Apply and find out! The Google Podcasts creator program is designed to increase the diversity of voices in the industry globally and lower barriers to podcasting. Selected teams will receive seed funding and participate in an intensive training program.

Selly Thiam (Executive Producer and Host) is a Senegalese-American journalist, filmmaker, radio producer and writer and the founder of None on Record, an Africa-wide LGBT digital media organization that produces the AfroQueer podcast. A Ugandan born and raised in Kenya, Aida Holly-Nambi (Reporter and Producer) is the Director of Arts and Culture for None on Record. Maeve Frances (Producer), is an independent audio producer and reporter based in Nairobi, Kenya.
This Spanish-language non-fiction podcast tells stories of “The Weird Ones,” the people who live on the margins of society because of their background or life choices, and how these stories challenge social norms.
Catalina May (Co-Creator) worked in print media for more than a decade before creating Las Raras with Martín Cruz (Co-Creator and Sound Designer), a sound engineer and musician from Santiago, Chile.

Jenna is the co-founder of Pineapple Street Media. After almost a decade working in public radio on such shows as The Moth and StoryCorps, Jenna started the podcast department at BuzzFeed and created Another Round, and Women of the Hour with Lena Dunham. She currently sits on the advisory board of The Moth.
Amit Doshi is a serial entrepreneur who has started companies in the technology and consumer internet space. He’s now branched out to start IVM Podcasts that focuses on making podcasts… lots of podcasts. He wants IVM Podcasts to be the premier destination for spoken word content in India.
Daniel Alarcón is the Executive Producer of Radio Ambulante, a Spanish language podcast distributed by NPR, which covers Latin America and US Latino communities. He is the author of several books of fiction, and his journalism has appeared in outlets like Wired, the New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, This American Life, Reply All, 99% Invisible, and elsewhere. Daniel lives with his family in New York, where he teaches radio at the Columbia University Journalism School.
Nazanin Rafsanjani is the Vice President of New Show Development at Gimlet Media. In this role, Nazanin oversees the development and acquisition strategy for new audio programming for the company. Prior to this role, Nazanin served as Creative Director of Gimlet Creative, Gimlet Media’s in-house advertising agency. Prior to joining Gimlet in 2015, Nazanin was a senior producer at MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show. Before that Nazanin held various reporting and editor positions at NPR, WNYC’s On The Media, and ABC News. She began her career at San Francisco’s KQED and graduated from UC Berkeley.
Michael Mignano is the co-founder and CEO of Anchor, the company making it easy for anyone to create a podcast. Michael built Anchor to democratize audio. By putting a free, full-stack podcasting platform in the pocket of anyone with a smartphone, Anchor is changing the way people think about audio and empowering anyone, in all walks of life and experience levels, to have their voices heard. Through Michael's leadership, Anchor now powers one third of all new podcasts in the rapidly growing market. Prior to founding Anchor, Michael was VP of Product for Aviary, growing the company's audience to over 100M creators before being acquired by Adobe in 2014. Previously, Michael led Digital Product Development for Atlantic Records.
Mohamed is the co-founder of Soundtelling, a podcast company based in Stockholm, Sweden. Mohamed was the host and co-producer of the Radiotopia Showcase episode Secrets and has produced serval successful radio shows and podcasts. At Soundtelling, Mohamed works as an executive producer, creating and producing content for the global podcast industry.
Ma’ayan Plaut is RadioPublic’s Content Strategist & (the first ever) Podcast Librarian, where she leads podcast curation in the iOS, Android, and web apps, and supports podcast creators as they develop and market their shows. Before joining RadioPublic, Ma’ayan managed and developed award-winning social media and marketing projects for her alma mater, Oberlin College.
Nishat Kurwa is Executive Producer of Audio at Vox Media, where she leads podcasting across the company's editorial networks and partners. She spent more than a decade as News Director/Senior Producer at the Peabody Award-winning independent production company Youth Radio (NPR's Youth Desk). During her tenure, she co-launched the company's music podcast hub, AllDayPlay.fm. After Youth Radio, Nishat joined APM's Marketplace, where she led the digital publishing team. Nishat is a mentor for the Third Coast International Audio Festival's Radio Residency and also publishes the women of color-centered newsletter Talk Story.
LaToya Drake is a founding member of the News Lab at Google, and most recently was part of the working group that launched the Google News Initiative (GNI). She manages GNI events and brand experiences, and is a champion for Google's inclusive storytelling efforts in the news industry. The other part of her job is as Google's TV spokesperson, meaning she takes arcane technical language about our products and services, and turns it in to on-air messages consumers can understand on networks like CNN, NBC, FOX, ABC and others. A highlight of her time at Google was running production for the Google-YouTube State of the Union interview with Barak Obama (he's magic, I hope everyone gets the chance to one day be in his presence). LaToya earned her MA in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University and her BS in Communications and Political Science from Florida State University.
Mona Chalabi is a journalist who really loves numbers. She translates spreadsheets into written pieces, illustrations, audio and film. She writes for the Guardian. Her illustrations, which depict everything from immigrant detention to balding patterns, have been commended by the Royal Statistical Society. Mona executive produced and hosted Strange Bird, an audio experiment and before that, she had a regular slot on US National Public Radio. And her TV work has included the BBC (Is Britain Racist?), National Geographic (Neil Degrasse Tyson’s Star Talk) and Netflix (The Fix) as well as Channel 4 and VICE. She’s one half of the team that created the Emmy-nominated video series Vagina Dispatches. She started writing about statistics after analyzing large data sets at the Bank of England, Transparency International and the International Organization for Migration. She’s based in New York. The only thing you need to know about her personal life is that she loves Peter Falk.

Jonathan Zenti is Head of Content at Voxnest, a company that provides comprehensive professional podcasting solutions for creating, distributing, managing, monetizing and advertising in audio content. Jonathan is founder of the Meeting of Independent Radio Producers (MIRP) and host, producer and creative director of the acclaimed Meat podcast. He is a a two-time winner of the GanBéarla Award for best original, non-English language content and recipient of the 2018 Third Coast / Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Skylarking Award. Originally from Verona Italy, Jonathan now splits time between Milan and New York.
Kate Montague is the founder and director of Audiocraft, an organisation for Australian podcasters. Audiocraft host an annual podcast festival and make podcasts through the Audiocraft Agency. As a producer and executive producer Kate has worked on audio projects for Audible; the ABC’s Earshot, This Is About, Pocketdocs and Long Story Short programs; CBC’s Love Me podcast; NPR’s Snap Judgement; and FBi Radio’s All The Best. She has also led podcast workshops at the Sydney Opera House, Screen QLD and the NSW Writers Centre.
Charlotte Pudlowski is co-founder of French podcasts studio Louie Media. She is the host and creator of two very popular podcasts in France: Transfert and Entre. Former editor in chief of Slate France where she started as a culture writer, she has worked for many publications including Stylist, 20Minutes, World Policy Journal.
Ramsey G. Tesdell is the executive director and partner of Sowt.com, an Arab podcast network based in Amman, Jordan. Sowt’s podcast Eib, is one of the top podcasts in the region on iTunes. He is also a founding partner of 7iber.com and works with new media startups and focuses specifically on media strategy and business development. Ramsey has a B.S. in rhetoric and communication and an M.S. in technical communication. He lives in Amman with his wife and two daughters.
Paula Scarpin is the director of Rádio Piauí, the podcasting arm of revista piauí, a Rio de Janeiro-based monthly magazine, where she's been a reporter since 2007. Piauí's podcasts include Foro de Teresina, a weekly politics roundtable; Maria vai com as outras, a biweekly feminist interview show, and Tudo o que você não quer e não precisa saber sobre a Copa, a miniseries about doomed World Cup teams.
Helen Zaltzman is the host and producer of the Allusionist, a multiple award-winning podcast about language and why we humans use it the ways we do, and the comedy show Answer Me This, one of Britain's longest running podcasts.
Tim de Gier started working in print journalism as a staff writer for Dutch magazine Vrij Nederland and Dutch national paper NRC. Two years ago he co-founded podcast-network Dag en Nacht Media, that now publishes over thirty shows. Tim himself is host of a podcastshow on cycling and producer for a show on cybersecurity. He’s also a 2015 fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard.
Brenda Salinas works on News Partnerships at Google, with a special focus on audio. Before coming to Google, Brenda had a career in public broadcasting, reporting and producing stories for nationally syndicated shows and podcasts. Brenda is passionate about helping newsrooms tell sound-rich stories that reach new and diverse audiences. Brenda is a graduate of Columbia University and was awarded the highly competitive NPR Kroc Fellowship. She is based in London.
